Hammers of Hope is a home-refurbishment program. It would involve Culpeper Habitat for Humanity making small repairs to existing houses of people in need. The main focuses are dryness, safety, warmth and handicap accessibility. Priority will be given to the elderly, the disabled and single-parent homes. As with other Habitat projects, some amount of "sweat equity" is required (if possible, which can be supplied by the home owner, their family, or friends and neighbors. This may be as simple as providing snacks or lunch for the workers. The amount of "sweat equity" is determined by the scope of the job.
