Hammers of Hope is a home-refurbishment program. It involves Culpeper Habitat for Humanity making small repairs to existing houses of people in need. The main focuses are dryness, safety, warmth and handicap accessibility. Priority will be given to the elderly, the disabled and single-parent homes.

We had our first project workday this past Saturday, June 26th at the Ellis house, and we were blessed to be joined by a visiting team of college young adults from Hope Community Church of the Nazarene in Culpeper. They all attend Eastern Nazarene College in Massachusetts, and are traveling on the road this summer doing VBS and backyard Bible Clubs. The jobs accomplished were tear down a ceiling in a dining room and hanging sheetrock and even getting the first coat of mud on the seams … as well as ourselves. We even got an old lawn mower fired up and cut the grass.

We are also very appreciative of the fine folks (Dave Nash and Barbara Jancse) from Long and Foster Reality of Culpeper for providing a wonderful breakfast and lunch at the jobsite.
