We have been looking at our recently acquired Spring St lot (many thanks to the local family who donated it!). There are a number of challenges, an abandoned oil storage tank was located, It is my understanding that we will have to engage a DEQ approved contractor to remove the tank. In addition the lot is heavily treed with 5 mature trees, two Beech trees, an Oak tree, a Sweet Gum tree and the real heart breaker a mature Chestnut tree.
For certain all but the Chestnut must come down to build on this lot. We are trying to come up with a plan that will allow us to build and still give the Chestnut a strong chance to survive. The fate of the Chestnut is still TBD.
We also came to the conclusion that the existing shed is in the way and will either have to be torn down or moved. We are looking at ways to move the shed.
